This week’s Saint Paul personal trainer tip comes courtesy of one of my friends and mentors, Vince Gabriele of GFP in Berkley Heights, NJ. It’s an amazing message I KNEW I had to share in DSC fashion 🙂
WHAZZZAAAAAP!
I just spoke bad 90’s beer commercials.
What language do you speak? (ready to get deep?)
The quality of our lives is controlled by our emotions.
There are 3 forces that control your emotions:
Your Physiology: Physical body, breath, posture, movement
Focus: Whatever you focus on is what you feel
Language: The words you use
Today we’re harping on that language track, Jack!
I hear patterns of negative, debilitating language aaaaaall the time (even from myself).
BUT, if we change our language, we can change our emotions.
“I can’t do this”
“I will never be able to do that”
“I just don’t have the time”
“This won’t work”
“This is too hard”
All these statements hammer home negative Nancy (and negative Nate) emotions–sadness, anxiety, frustration, depression.
The words we use will change our emotions.
When we say things like:
“I WILL make the time”
“What a great opportunity this challenge is”
…it changes friggin’ everything.
Your perception–the way you look at and respond to the exact same event can change from a negative to a positive with something as simple as itty bitty tweaks of the words you use.
The more you do this the happier you’ll be. Cause, you know, happiness is like a positive emotion and all.
Change your language, change your emotions! #likeaboss
Unapologetically dedicated to your MASSIVE success,
Your favorite Saint Paul Personal Trainer 😉
PS: Not sure what effect 90’s beer commercial language has on this, though : /
